Don't miss: Porthcawl Interceltic Festival!

Don't miss the annual celebration of all things Celt at this year's Porthcawl Interceltic Festival, taking place at the Porthcawl Pavilion between Friday the 7th and Sunday the 9th of March.
Once again musicians, singers and dancers are descending on Porthcawl for another Cwlwm Celtaidd - The Celtic Festival of Wales with Celtic music, song and dance from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man.

A weekend of non-stop concerts, dances, workshops, legendary sessions and Saturday's colourful "Parade of the Celts" through Porthcawl town centre finishing at the Grand Pavilion.
Headlining the Friday evening concert is the fantastic Monster Celidh Band. On Saturday evening, Jamie Smith's Mabon make a very welcome return.

With our new base in the Grand Pavilion with two indoor stages under one roof on the town seafront, the festival is close to all the amenities associated with Porthcawl, one of Wales' premier seaside resorts, including the town centre, beaches, coastal paths & dunes, golf clubs & outdoor pursuit centres.

10 things to do in Bridgend in the school holiday

Half term is officially here so why not start thinking about how to enjoy every bit of it. We have prepared our own top 10 list of ideas for a perfect half term in Bridgend!

10. Trekking and tea - Enjoy the sun, the nature and the fresh Welsh air while treating yourself with a nice cup of tea in one of Bridgend's finest restaurants

8. Adventure Centre -  How about spending an adrenaline-fuelled day out with your friends at Adventures Wales? Hop on a quad bike and race to the finish, grab a paintball gun and capture the flag or don a harness and scale the climbing wall in the quickest time possible.

7. Bridgend Indoor Market - Located in the Rhiw Shopping Centre, the market is in the centre of town. Experience the local food and lots of other goods in the 30 stalls

6. Mud and mountains  - Spend a day racing around Bridgend's MTB trails at Darren Fawr. You might be surprised how much the Bridgend bike trails have to offer.

5. Odeon Bridgend - The Odeon Bridgend is a 9 screen cinema complex showing all the latest productions as well as hosting special event presentations.

4. Ella Riley's traditional sweets and toffees - The toffees are handmade in the Ella Riley kitchens, and guests are welcome to come and watch as the toffees are made on a daily basis.

3. Kenfig National Nature Reserve - Kenfig pool is Glamorgan's largest lake and features a spectacular view across Swansea Bay to the Gower.

2. Parc Tondu Victorian Ironworks - Learn about iron making and explore the natural woodland, landscaped parkland and attend a variety of event at the ancient monument.
1. Coney Beach Pleasure Park - Spend a day at the fun fair right next to the sea. Enjoy rides, slot machines, fish and chips, and everything else needed for a fun day out.

Trumpets at the ready! The annual Brass band Championships will be returning to Bridgend this Saturday!
Things get brassy in February as Porthcawl’s Grand Pavilion plays host to some of the top brass bands on the planet (just look at the ’4barsrest’ rankings). These bands will then go head-to-head, each playing their own twenty minute entertainment mini-concert programme to find out who will be crowned the champions. Click here for more information
