Are you an Ambassador for Bridgend?
03 November 2015
Are you potty about Porthcawl? Or are you the oracle on the Ogmore Valley? Do you love the local coastline and countryside so much that you could act as a tourism ambassador for the area?
Bridgend County Borough Council and the Bridgend Tourism Association are looking to recruit 30 ambassadors that could share their passion and knowledge of the county borough with visitors.
The tourism ambassadors would perform a variety of roles. Some might act as a point of contact for people planning visits, on hand to share stories and holiday tips, while some may act as greeters at events.
Others may be wordsmiths who are skilled at writing blogs and social media posts to help spread the word about what is special and unique about the county borough.
All ambassadors would be given free training to help improve their local knowledge even further, and they would also have the chance to develop specific skills related to events, social media and other aspects of communication as appropriate..
Whenever people plan weekend breaks or holidays these days, they scour online reviews to pick up hints of the best places to stay and things to do.
This ambassador programme takes that a step further, giving potential visitors a chance to call up a friendly group of people who know the area better than anyone.
As local residents, it is easy to get blasé about our fantastic beaches, picturesque valleys, and fascinating history, but it's time we spoke up for it a bit more and these ambassadors will play a key role in helping us to promote Bridgend County Borough and the wider Glamorgan Heritage Coast and Countryside as being among the most stunning places to visit in Wales."
