Darren Fawr Mountain Bike Trails
The Darren Fawr Mountain Bike Trails are now open.
There are two trails - the blue 'Glengarw' trail aimed at the intermediate rider and the black 'Gellideg' trail for the experienced skilled rider. Both trails are approximately 3km in the length so when combined provide a fantastic 6km ride.
Blue trail - named the Glengarw Trail (after the Glengarw Colliery, also known as the Ballarat) - 3km long with a 100m climb
Black trail - named the Gellideg Trail (after the largest coal seam in the Ocean Colliery - 3.2km long with a 200m climb
The trails were designed and built by Back-on-Track Mountain Bike Solutions Ltd.
There is free parking in the Parc Calon Lan Visitor Centre car park off Railway Terrace, Blaengarw (CF32 8AT).
There is a very active mountain bike club in the valley and the trails are already proving very popular.
